Mary Lou (Bobbitt) LaPlant

Mary Lou LaPlant, nee Bobbitt, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Cuba Manor at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 18 days. She was born September 20, 1935 in Steelville, Missouri to Fredrick Bobbitt and Addie Stringer Bobbitt. In the town of Walnut Ridge in 1950, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Thomas LaPlant and to this union three children were born.

She was employed for several years at Woolworth's in St. Louis. Mary Lou had attended the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville and the Catholic Church in St. Louis. She enjoyed beautiful flowers, reading, crocheting, and sewing, anything to do with history, watching the Kardashians and taking care of her dog, Benji.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Tom LaPlant of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Lisa Seep of Robertsville, MO and Mulinda Holohan of High Ridge, MO; six grandchildren, Brian Weddington, Thomas Holohan, Jr., Malisa Thomas, Ronald McKnight, Sarah Spaeth and Hillary Bourner; seven great-grandchildren, Davian Weddington, J.P. Bourner, Ava Spaeth, Cal Thomas, Masin Thomas, Jack Thomas and Kayleigh McKnight; one brother, Jim Bobbitt; sisters, Joyce Phares and Rita Hunter; her beloved dog, Benji; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Spurgeon LaPlant, Jr.; and two brothers, Bill and Murney Bobbitt.

Private visitation was held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, MO

Private graveside services were held Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Bill Bennett officiating.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.

Honored to be casket bearers were Brian Weddington, Thomas Bourner, Dr. Rick Heusler and Bill Bennett.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
