James “Jim” William Scott of Steelville, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Phelps Health in Rolla at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 8 days. He was born June 2, 1942 in Steelville, Missouri to Elmer D. Scott and Genevieve Watson Scott. Jim was a Steelville High School graduate from the class of 1960.
Jim was united in marriage to Sandra Nelson on December 18, 1977 in Fairfield, California and to this union two more sons joined his family of two which became a brand-new family.
He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1966. Soon afterwards, Jim became employed by the Federal Government at Travis Air Force Base in the Civil Service until his retirement in 1995. On a cold and snowy day in Missouri, Jim moved back to Steelville in 1995 bringing Sandra to his home town.
Jim enjoyed being outside and taking care of his lawn. He also loved to travel with his wife, Sandra, throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Genevieve Scott; his son, Dale Cameron Scott; two brothers, David Whitaker and Charlie Scott; and sister, Linda (Gary) Plank.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 47 years, Sandra Scott of Steelville, MO; two step-sons, Tim (Lupe) Anenson of Bremerton, WA and Chris (Sarah) Anenson of Vacaville, CA; one special grandson, Ryan Anenson; and a sister, Mary (Marvin) Norris of St. James, MO; and a brother, John Scott of Rolla, MO; other relatives; and friends.
A Memorial Visitation was from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the Peaceful Bend Winery, 1942 Highway T, Steelville, MO. Military Honors were held 3:00 p.m. with the USAF.
Jim had chosen cremation as his final disposition.
