Judith “Judy” Ann Whittaker, nee Dicus, age 79 years, 7 months and 16 days of Steelville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.
Judy was born on August 3, 1944 in Steelville, Missouri to Fred and Hazel Humphrey Dicus. On January 5, 1963 in Cuba, Missouri Judy was united in marriage to Gene Whittaker and to this union three sons and a daughter were born.
Judy was employed at Steelville R-III School District, in the cafeteria, for 26 years and also babysat for many years. For over 35 years, she and her husband, Gene, worked together at the Coffee Community Church where Gene was the pastor. Later they attended Midland Pentecostal Assembly.
Judy always loved hosting Christmas breakfast for family and friends throughout the years. She enjoyed taking care of her flowers and plants, especially her elephant ears. For many years, she collected coffee cups and cookbooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Hazel Dicus; infant son, Bobby Whittaker; and five brothers, Kenneth Dicus, Louis Dicus, Richard Dicus, Bill Dicus and Alan Dicus.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 61 years, Gene Whittaker, of Steelville; two sons, Larry (Marie) Whittaker of Union, MO, Mike (Amy) Whittaker of Steelville, MO; one daughter, Faith Whittaker of Steelville, MO; 7 grandchildren, Justin (Lacey) Whittaker of Bourbon, MO, Nathan (Jessica) Whittaker of Washington, MO, Jordan (Ethan) Parker of Rolla, MO, Emily Whittaker of St. Charles, MO, Drew (Charly) Whittaker of Clinton, MO, Trenton Whittaker and Isabella Whittaker of Steelville, MO; 4 great-grandchildren, Addie Whittaker and Liv Whittaker of Bourbon, MO, Hadlee Kennedy and Nora Parker of Rolla, MO; brothers, Gerald Dicus of Cuba, MO, Jack (Deborah) Dicus of Bourbon, MO and Tim (Rita) Dicus of Cuba, MO; sisters, Carol Watson of Steelville, MO, Linda (Jim) Strite of Hillsboro, MO, Peggy Gregory of Rolla, MO and Debbie (Guy) Smith (special niece, raised like a sister) of Steelville, MO; two sisters-in-law, Terri Dicus of Dale, IN and Judy Dicus of Steelville, MO; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Far Side Banks of Jordan", "I'll See You in the Rapture" and "Amazing Grace" was sung by Karilee Curtis on piano, Rachel Hampton and Rick Smith on bass guitar.
The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.
