Arthur W. Abney

Arthur W. Abney of St. Charles, MO passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the age of 70. He was born July 21, 1940 in Goodwater, Missouri to Leslie P. Abney and Letha Parks Abney. On August 1, 1992, he was united in marriage to Shirley Parmer Abney.

Arthur was a driver for Be-Mac Trucking in St. Louis and retired after thirty-five years.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of St. Charles, MO; three sons, Rob Abney and wife Krista of Baldwin, MO, Brent Abney and wife Earlene of O'Fallon, MO and Richard Abney of Old Monroe, MO; five daughters, Robin Younger and Christy Dalton of Granite City, IL Bobbi Campbell of Marian, IL, Stephanie Cherry of Staunton, IL, and Kelly Sinovich and husband Matt of O'Fallon, MO; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Abney and wife Betty of Steelville, MO; one sister, Vernice Englehardt of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law Martha Abney of Salelm, MO; brother-in-law Radis Skaggs of Viburnum, MO; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman Abney and wife Hilda and Leman Abney; sisters, Bertha Thornton and husband Leonard, Velma Byrd and husband Paul, Shirley Herr and husband Bob, Verda Hawthorne and husband Thurman and Norma Jean Skaggs.

Memorial service was held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.
Special music of "When We All Get to Heaven" and "Go Rest High" was played.

Committal prayer and inurnment were in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Salem, MO.
