Bonnie Lea Obituary

Bonnie June Lea, nee Edgar, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in Cuba at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 28 days. Bonnie was born at Cook Station, MO to Pleas and Dora Gorman Edgar on June 19, 1928. On September 12, 1946 in Steelville, Bonnie was united in marriage to Pete Lea and to that union three children were born.

Bonnie was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church for seventy plus years and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She spent many hours gardening and sewing for her family. Bonnie also clerked auctions for the Lea Auction Service and was a 4-H leader.  She enjoyed hunting, fishing with Pete and also traveling with him throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Ernie Floyd;  four brothers, Reuben (Opal) Edgar, Harold (Bonnie) Edgar, Elmer (Edna) Edgar and Cecil (Alma) Edgar; two sisters, Beulah (Ernie) Moline and Wanda Freie; brothers-in-law, Bud ((Dottie) Lea, Hack (Verniece) Lea, Bill Lea, Charles Counts, Richard Mager and L.H. (Matred) Kehner;

She is survived by her husband of seventy-two years, Pete Lea of Steelville; one son, Rusty (Judy) Lea of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Sheila Floyd of Lake St. Louis, MO and Jane Williams of Cuba, MO; two sisters-in-law, Dormalie Lea and Shirley Mager of Steelville, MO; five grandchildren, Darin (Kelly) Floyd, Bradley (Debby) Floyd, Mark (Jennifer) Floyd, Cody (Alisha) Williams and Cameron Williams; six great-grandchildren, Shane (Lindsey) Floyd, Matthew Floyd, Logan Floyd, Jessica Floyd, Emily Floyd and Luke Floyd; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The Family received friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Steelville Presbyterian Church in Steelville with Rev. Jerry Beers and Rev. Wendy Downing officiating. Family memories were shared by her daughter, Sheila Floyd. Special music of "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace" was sung by Hal Rhea. Other music of "When the Roll is Called up Yonder" was sung by the congregation. Postlude and prelude along with all the music were accompanied on piano by Connie Rhea.

A private family interment was in the Steelville Cemetery.

Honored to be casket bearers were Darin Floyd, Bradley Floyd, Mark Floyd, Cody Williams, Cameron Williams and Shane Floyd with honorary bearers Matthew Floyd, Emily Floyd and Luke Floyd.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
