Brenda Lea Brown, nee Calahan, of Belleville, Illinois, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 13 days. She was born March 9, 1957 in Steelville to Madison Guy Calahan and Goldie Lucille Helms Calahan. On December 9, 1978 in Possum Trot, Kentucky, she was united in marriage to Edward A. Brown, Sr.

Brenda was raised in the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed sewing, camping and watching her favorite movie, Titanic. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Madison Guy Calahan; and grandson, Zachary Michael Brown.

She is survived by her mother, Lucille Calahan of Cuba, MO; her husband of thirty-nine years, Ed Brown, Sr. of Belleville, IL; two sons, Michael Madison Brown and Edward Allen Brown, Jr. of Granite City, IL; and one daughter, Cindy Lea Brown of Decatur, IL; three brothers, Jimmy Dale Calahan and wife Shelly of Steelville, MO, Dennis Ray Callahan and wife Stephanie of Cuba, MO and Timothy Paul Calahan of Belleville, IL; one sister, Connie Jane Bell and husband Daniel of Cherryville, MO; six grandchildren, Amber Lea Brown, Madison Edward Dale Brown, Cameron Lucille Brown, Tiffany Renea Brown, Robyn Elizabeth Matzenbacher and Rainah Faye Matzenbacher; four great-grandchildren, David Downey, Alison Lea Madison Downey, Mathew Downey and Asher Zackary Brown; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; other relatives and friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO wither Rev. Mark Godbey officiating and Rev. Jonathan Blake offering prayer. Special music of "My Heart will Go On" and "Tender Years" was played. Other music of "Family Bible" was sung and played on guitar by Dave Callahan.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.

Honored to be casket bearers were Dave Callahan, Dennis Callahan, Jim Pyatt, Dan Bell, Charlie Brown and Carl Zimmerman.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
