Brian Andrew Kelly

Brian "Skoob" Andrew Kelly of Viburnum, Missouri passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in his home. He was born March 13, 1962 in Oakland, California to Andrew and Bernadette Kelly.

Brian worked at Doe Run and Global Security for many years. The last several years he worked for The Mine Supply in Viburnum as a pump mechanic and was the dispatcher for the Quad County Fire Department. He also was a volunteer fireman for the Quad County Fire Department since 1984. Brian enjoyed watching Nascar and Sprint Cars. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Brian had the opportunity to ride a car around Charlotte Motor Speedway. Brian enjoyed life and you could find him any weekend at a racetrack. He enjoyed helping out on Friday nights at Longhorn Raceway in Viburnum. Most people knew him as Skoob. Brian loved his nieces and nephews and spoiled them to the core, as he didn't have any of his own.

"Brian was such a kind, compassionate and giving person. He gave to many charities and even sponsored local race cars. The Viburnum Jazz Band is going to New York to play at Carnegie Hall and they are collecting new and gently used shoes ( adults, kids, sneakers, boots, flip flops, etc). The family has decided in Brian's honor and memory to start a " Shoebox for Brian". If you would like to help the family to honor Brian,bring a pair of shoes to the funeral home Tuesday evening and we will have a tote to place the shoes in. We will start the donation with a new pair of shoes of Brian's. Let's send these students to Carnegie Hall in New York!"

Brian accepted Christ at a young age. He was a very independent person and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding him in death were his sister, Cathy Umfress; brother-in-law, Jimmy Umfress; nephew, Chad Umfress; and great nephew, Eric Kelly.

He is survived by his parents, Andrew and Bernadette Kelly of Viburnum, MO; brothers, Tim Kelly and Patrick (Tammy) Kelly all of Viburnum, MO and Bob (Amy) Kelly of Leasburg, MO; sister, Christine (Chris) Renner; nephews and nieces, Anthony (Racheal) Kelly, Jon (Marcia) Kelly, Brittany Ray, Matt Duncan, Andrea Kelly, Bethany Kelly, Drew Renner, Kyle Renner, Cody Umfress and Corey Umfress; fourteen great nephews and nieces; other relatives and friends.

A memorial visitation was held from 5:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Cremation is the choice of the family.

As requested by the family, please no flowers or plants.

Ending the visitation, the Quad County Fire Department retired Brian's call #309.
