The last several years he worked for The Mine Supply in Viburnum as a pump mechanic and was the dispatcher for the Quad County Fire Department. He also was a volunteer fireman for the Quad County Fire Department since 1984. Brian enjoyed watching Nascar and Sprint Cars. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Brian had the opportunity to ride a car around Charlotte Motor Speedway. Brian enjoyed life and you could find him any weekend at a racetrack. He enjoyed helping out on Friday nights at Longhorn Raceway in Viburnum. Most people knew him as Skoob. Brian loved his nieces and nephews and spoiled them to the core, as he didn't have any of his own.
"Brian was such a kind, compassionate and giving person. He gave to many charities and even sponsored local race cars. The Viburnum Jazz Band is going to New York to play at Carnegie Hall and they are collecting new and gently used shoes ( adults, kids, sneakers, boots, flip flops, etc). The family has decided in Brian's honor and memory to start a " Shoebox for Brian". If you would like to help the family to honor Brian, bring a pair of shoes to the funeral home Tuesday evening and we will have a tote to place the shoes in. We will start the donation with a new pair of shoes of Brian's. Let's send these students to Carnegie Hall in New York!"
