Charlotte Mary (Rosenkranz) NeumannAugust 27, 1920 ~ August 13, 2017 (age 96)
Charlotte Mary Neumann, nee Rosenkranz, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the age of 96 years, 11 months and 17 days. She was born August 27, 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri to Herman J. Rosenkranz and Anna Theurer Rosenkranz. On August 16, 1941 in St. Louis, she was united in marriage to Lawrence "Bill" Neumann and to this union three children were born.
Charlotte and Bill grew up in St. Louis. They met when she was a senior in high school during the time Bill was her brother's music teacher. After a four year courtship they married and a few years later bought her mother's confectionery store. In 1955, they bought some acreage outside of Steelville for weekend trips. Later in 1977, they moved to Crawford County and became involved in the community. Charlotte was a member of the Steelville First Presbyterian Church. She was very active in the Martha & Mary Order of Eastern Star and assisted with special events at Gibbs Care. Charlotte enjoyed gardening, quilting and crafts throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Neumann; one son, Glenn Alan Neumann; and brother, Herman J. Rosenkranz, Jr.
She is survived by her son, Lawrence "Larry" Neumann, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Steelville, MO; one daughter, Cheryl Neumann of Steelville, MO; daughter-in-law, JoAnna Neumann of San Jose, CA; three grandchildren, Jason Perotka, Matt Perotka and wife Sarah and Jo Ellen Banjai and husband, Nick; five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Wesley, Benjamin Perotka, Nicholas and Whitney Banjai.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 and Eastern Star services by the Cuba OES 398 were held at 7:00 p.m. at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "How Great Thou Art" and "I'll Fly Away" was played. Memories were shared by a grandson, Matt Perotka and daughter-in-law, Kathy Neumann.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Bill Dean, Matt Perotka, Kathy Neumann, Sarah Perotka, Jason Perotka and Cheryl Neumann.
