Clarence Callahan Obituary

Clarence James Callahan of Davisville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Phelps Health in Rolla at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 18 days. He was born January 31, 1937 in Davisville, Missouri to Arvel and Villia Bryant Callahan. On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joan Gray who preceded him in death.

Clarence attended Faith Chapel Church in Cuba, MO. He was employed for West Construction for many years and retired from the company. Clarence loved reading the Bible, being outdoors whether cutting wood, mowing the grass, hunting and fishing, feeding the fish or riding his 4-wheeler and enjoying his “shadow”, his dog Cricket. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of forty-four years, Joan Callahan; three angel great-grandbabies; brothers, infant Junior Callahan, infant Gene Callahan and Robert Callahan; sisters, infant Nella Callahan, Rosetta Hubert and husband Johnny, Loretta Spearman and husband Jim and Lillie Hernandez; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Williams, Tom Eads, Frank Hunter; and sister-in-law, Marie Taylor.

He will be sadly missed by his son, Dennis Callahan and wife Beverly of Steelville, MO; two daughters, Tina Mason and husband Dennis of Cherryville, MO and Leslie Martin and special friend, Mike Gremminger of Cuba, MO; son-in-law, Jim Martin of Steelville, MO; one brother, Ray Callahan and wife Barbara of Steelville, MO; Emma Williams of Cherryville, MO and Ima Hunter of Kirkwood, MO; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Callahan of Cherryville, MO and Dorothy Land of Steelville, MO; nine grandchildren, Tinette (Daniel) Carl of Cherryville, Rick (Misty) Leasor of Viburnum, Bobby (Kayla) Leasor of Steelville, Ron (Bobbie Joe) Leasor of Davisville, Brad (Katie) Callahan of Steelville, Dustin (Olivia) Callahan of Viburnum, Andy (Andrea) Martin of Cherryville, Timmy (Rachael) Martin of Steelville, and Zach (Stephie) Martin of Cherryville, MO; seventeen great-grandchildren, Angel Carl, Ethan Carl, Deanna Leasor, Reese Callahan, Isabella Leasor, Wyatt Callahan, Anna Leasor, Charlie Leasor, Liam Leasor, Sadie Leasor, Willow Callahan, Jace Callahan, Ryan Martin, Desire Martin, Abel Martin, Jordan Martin, Rose Martin and one on the way; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; and many friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Pastor Darla Buettner officiating and grandson, Dustin Callahan reading the obituary. Special music of "On the Wings of a Dove", "I'll Meet you on the Other Side of Jordan" and a medley of songs was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery in Cherryville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Andy Martin, Timmy Martin, Zach Martin, Daniel Carl, Ron Leasor, Bobby Leasor, Dustin Callahan, Brad Callahan and Reese Callahan.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
