Donna Kay Harper Obituary

Donna Kay (Davis), (nee Blanton) Harper was born September 30, 1952 to Roy and Julia (Harman) Blanton in Sullivan, MO. On Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the age of 67 years, 1 month and 29 days surrounded by her children, her husband and a special friend and caregiver, Vivian Hulett, Donna went to her heavenly home.

Donna married her high school sweetheart, Phillip Alan Davis on December 20, 1969 in her home church at Liberty, just outside of Steelville, MO. To this union three children were born, Michael, Rebecca and Erin.

In July 1971, Donna and Mike joined Phil in Germany for one year while he completed his tour serving in the U.S. Army. They returned to Steelville to make their permanent home.

In 1979, Phil and Donna started Davis Feed Service, where they worked side by side for fifteen years until they sold in 1994. On September 20, 1995, Phil suddenly passed away. They were married for over twenty-five years.

On January 2, 1998, Donna was united in marriage to Charles Harper, also of Steelville. When he retired, they enjoyed a few years of traveling. Donna was able to return to visit Germany, as well as seeing Austria, Canada, Alaska and Israel, just to name a few of her favorites. Probably her favorite memory of these travels was being baptized in the Jordan River.

Donna enjoyed gardening, crocheting, collecting and reading books along with doing jigsaw puzzles. She had a big heart and enjoyed giving to multiple charities. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. This included her extended church family at Berryman Assembly of God.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Julia Blanton; her first husband, Phil Davis; one brother, Leonard Blanton; one sister, Susie Blanton; nephew, Jason Blanton; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Harper and Mary (Eddie) Davis; parent in-laws, Gilbert Davis, Donald and Dorthy Harper; and one great-grandson Simon Slovensky.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Harper of the home; children, Michael (Miranda) Davis, Rebecca (Chad) Barton and Erin (Robert) Harmon all of Steelville; step-children, Regina (Tommy) Slovensky of Potosi, MO, Rita Harper of Steelville, MO and Stephen (Tammy) Harper of Granite City, IL; mother-in-law, Ina Davis of Steelville; sisters-in-law, Linda Pope and Christine Blanton of Steelville and Darlene (Ron) Turner of Rolla, MO; brother-in-law, Lonnie (Jean) Harper of Sullivan, MO; twenty grandchildren, Scott (Katie) Barton, Crystal (Elijah) Burke, Jonathan and Amber Barton, Shantel (Michael) Hewkin, Dalton (Katelynn) Harmon, Dusty and Lane Davis, Lucas and Lance Garms, Andrew (Astryd) Slovensky, Cyrus (Nicole) Slovensky, Seth (Casey) Slovensky, Matthias (April) Slovensky, Hannah Eaton, Hope (Kyle) Kientzel, Bethany, Jonathan, Ethan and Nathaniel Harper; nine great-grandchildren with two on the way; aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins; other relatives; and many friends.
