Floyd James Medley, age 76, of Potosi, Missouri passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 at his home. He was born December 26, 1942 in Bixby, Missouri to Marie Medley.
Floyd graduated from Cherryville High School and served his nation honorably in the U.S. Army from 1960-1963. He was employed at Lever Bros. in St. Louis for several years and retired in 2001. Floyd was of the Pentecostal faith and was a member of the Leadwood Masonic Lodge, the Elk Lodge in Potosi, the Eagles Lodge in Arnold and the Scottish Rites in St. Louis. He enjoyed hunting and traveling in his spare time. Even though he was always quiet around others, he enjoyed socializing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Medley.
Floyd is survived by his daughter, Melody (Greg) Martin of Cuba, MO; two brothers, Charles (Virginia) Medley of Potosi, MO and Kerry (Debra) Summers of Steelville, MO; two grandchildren, Mathew (Rachael) Brockmeier and Randi (Mark) Spurgeon all of Cuba, MO; five great-grandchildren, Landin, Jacob, Tatum, Eli and Harper; other relatives and friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace" and "Go Rest High" was played.
Full military honors were given immediately following the service by the U.S. Army, St. James VFW Post #5608 and Patriot Guard.
Floyd had chosen cremation as his final disposition. Inurnment will be in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery in Viburnum, MO at a later date.
