Gerald “Jerry” Allen Emerson

Gerald “Jerry” Allen Emerson of St. Peters, MO passed away Monday, June 10, 2019 in St. Louis at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 25 days. He was born February 16, 1942 in St. Louis, MO. On September 12, 1964, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Vaughn and to this union two sons were born.

Jerry served honorably in the Army National Guard from 1960-1968. He enjoyed building birdhouses, working in his yard and hunting. But most of all he loved his family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Helen Emerson; and brother, James “Jim” Emerson.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of fifty-four years, Carolyn Emerson; two sons, Richard Allen Emerson and Christopher Allen (Monica Bonita) Emerson; one sister, Barb (Paul) Thomasson; brother, Larry Emerson; three granddaughters, Shelby Jurue Emerson, Kerstie Michelle Whittaker and Reachel Whittaker; two great-granddaughters, Alexandria Whittaker and Ryan Whittaker; two brothers-in-law, James “Jim” (Joyce) Vaughn and Dennis (Robin) Vaughn; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Rick Haggett officiating. Special music of "The Last best place" and "I am near the Gate" was sung by Dennis on guitar, Robin and Allison Vaughn.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Roberts Cemetery, Salem, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Richard Emerson, Christopher Emerson, Dennis Vaughn, Jason Vaughn, Jarid Vaughn and Scott Stice.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
