Harold Slade Obituary

Harold Slade of Davisville, Missouri passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 in Owensville, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 7 days. He was born August 13, 1932 in Festus, Missouri to Thomas and Fannie Wilkinson Slade. In July of 1953, he was united in marriage to Joan Albert in St. Louis and to this union three sons and two daughters were born. Harold graduated from Cherryville High School and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951 to 1954 being awarded a Purple Heart. He owned Slade Construction in St. Louis where he laid underground cable. He and Joan were previous members of the Fenton Church of Christ where Harold was an ordained Elder and in later years became a member of the Viburnum Christian Church where he was a past song leader. Harold was also a member of the Davisville American Legion. He loved working his farm, cutting hay, hunting and fishing along with some traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sandra Braun; two brothers, Homer and Thomas Slade; sisters, Betty Neely and JoAnn (Bill) Gahr; sisters-in-law, Mary Slade, Elizabeth Diefenbach, Mae Pipkin, Carol Dace, Mildred Frey and Dorothy Gravatt; brothers-in-law, Larry Farrar, Bill Seaver and James Setzer, George Albert, Arthur Albert and R.G. Albert Jr.; and one grandson, Joseph.

Harold will be sadly missed by his wife, Joan of almost sixty-six years; three sons, Michael (Kathy) Slade of Catawissa, MO, Mark (Linda) Slade of Pacific, MO and Robert (Stephanie) Slade of Kirkwood, MO; one daughter, Vicki (Ken) Spencer of St. Clair, MO; two brothers, John (Marlene) Slade of Berryman and Joseph (JoAnn) of St. Ann, MO; four sisters, Janis (Ronald) Shrum of Sikeston, MO, Janet Farrar of Town and Country, MO, Earlene Seaver of Fairfield, CT and Jene Setzer of Cuba, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Tom, Lana, Brian, Daphne, Noah, Drew, Leah, Trinty, Sadie, Kennedy, Brittnee, Sean and Alyse; nine great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Sparks, Shirley Williams, and Robert Albert; other relatives and many friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Ronald Shrum officiating and Mark Slade reading the obituary. Special music of "It is Well with My soul" was sung by Janis Shrum and "How Great thou Art" by Trinty Bradshaw. Memories were shared by Michael Slade and Noah Slade.

Committal prayer, interment and Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army, VFW #2025 Rolla and Patriot Guard Riders were in the Davisville Cemetery.

Honored to be casket bearers were Noah Slade, Mark Slade, Bob Slade, Mick Slade, Tom Slade and Sean Semones.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
