Helen Margaret Oxendine, nee Sisco, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in her home at the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 27 days. She was born July 13, 1938 in House Springs, Missouri to Thomas and Pearl Sisco. She graduated from Salem High School in 1957. Helen was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Oxendine in July of 1960 in Salem, MO and to this union two daughters were born.
Helen was employed at Brown Shoe Company in Steelville for thirty plus years and later went to work at San Val for five years where she retired.
Helen was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and later attended Steelville Assembly of God Church. She so loved going to church and singing. She spent many hours of cooking, canning and gardening for her family and loved taking care of her roses. Most of all she loved all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Oxendine; son-in-law, Bobby Irvin; grandson, Alexander Koch; brothers-in-law, Bill Harrison, Dan Holeman and Joe Kies; and sister-In-law, Maudie Casarotto.
Helen will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Tammy Irvin and Karen (Kenny) Koch all of Steelville, MO; five grandchildren, Bobby Jo Irvin, Marty Renee Irvin, Danny (Breanne) Koch, Alisha and Anthony Koch; six great-grand children, Domynicc, Chase, Paytonn, Sophia, Lukas and Triston; five sisters, Joyce Brisco, Freida (Jerry) Harrison and Janet (Gary) Whitaker all of Salem, MO, Wilma Harrison and Linda (Louie) Stagner of Springfield, MO; one brother, Gordon (Sue) Sisco of Salem, MO; sister-in-law, Ruby Kies of Utah; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Send your best Angel for Mama”, “Far Side Banks of Jordan”, “Gathering Flowers for the Master’s Bouquet” and “When I get Where I am Going” was played,
Committal prayer and interment were in the Cherryville Baptist Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Danny Koch, Kenny Koch, Tony Koch, Jay Harrison, Mark Frisco and Glenn Everett.
