Howard E. "Sammy" Setzer, 73, of Mooresville, IN, passed away on October 26, 2018. He was born to William F. and Lena (Swyers) Setzer on January 29, 1945 in Dillard, MO. He honorably served in the United States Army.
Howard retired a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union Local 374 after he worked for 35 years. He was also a part time Rancher-Farmer, raising every manner of wildlife. He was a member of the Mooresville American Legion Post 103, Mooresville Fraternal Order of Eagles and a former member of Morgan County Cattleman's Association. He loved to travel and see the world. He lived in Mooresville for the past 34 years and his birthplace of Dillard, MO for 18 years.
Howard is survived by six loving children, Cristi Setzer of Morrice, MI, Kelly (Terry) VanWormer of Owosso, MI, Dallas Brown of Indianapolis, IN, Michael (Tricia) Hunt of Avon IN, Tony (Sarah) Setzer of Zionsville, IN and Orson Setzer of Naperville, IL; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson and a great-granddaughter expected soon; two brothers, John and Radis Setzer; and a loving special companion, Kimberly Evert of Mooresville, IN. Howard is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, Delbert and Lloyd Setzer; and a sister, Judy Setzer.
A visitation was held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville, IN.
The Family received friends from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Sellers Cemetery. Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Sellers Cemetery, Dillard, MO with nephew, Johnny Setzer officiating. Memories were shared by son, Tony Setzer. Special music of "Green Green Grass of Home" was played. Committal prayer was given by Tom Gibbs with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army and VFW Post 2025 Rolla.
Honored to be casket bearers were Jackson Setzer, Jerry Setzer, Dale Hickman, Zach Setzer, Tom Gibbs and Steve Setzer.
The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
