James "Jim" Rodney Carr of Yucaipa, California, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 in California at the age of 82 years and 4 days. Jim was born December 13, 1935 in Cook Station, Missouri to Walter Irving Carr and Elsie Carr, nee Grayson.

While serving in the U.S. Air Force, Jim met his future bride, Elizabeth "Liz" Newman, who was also in the U.S. Air Force. They were united in marriage on February 17, 1957 at Travis Air Force Base in California and to this union three sons were born. Jim served honorably in the Air Force for twenty years until his retirement in 1974. During his service, he was a flight engineer flying seventy-two combat missions in Vietnam. After retirement, Jim owned and operated Copy-Co in Los Angeles, CA. After selling his business, he and his wife moved to Springfield, MO where he worked for the Core of Engineers. After several years, he moved back to his home area in Steelville until recently when both of their health declined. He was a member of the VFW American Legion. Jim attended the Baptist church in earlier years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Glen Carr and wife Wanda, Kermit Carr and wife Ellenor and Calvin "Chink" Carr; two sisters, Virginia Norris and husband Ted and Leota Land and husband Bob; and brother-in-law, Larry Garms.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Carr of Yucaipa, CA; three sons, Mark Edward Carr and wife Penny Sue and Peter Michael Carr all of Yucaipa, CA and Gary Allen Carr of San Angelo, TX.; four grandchildren; one brother, Ed Carr and wife Carol of Steelville, MO; and two sisters, Myrna Luke and husband Ralph of Anderson, IN and Joyce Garms of Steelville, MO.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 with Bill Bennett officiating at the Carr Cemetery with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Air Force and the Patriot Guard. Special memories were shared by members of the family.

Honored to be casket bearers were Mark Carr, Peter Carr, Gary Carr, Logan Carr and Gene Garms.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
