Lawrence Midyett Obituary

Lawrence Ray Midyett of Viburnum, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 20 days. He was born in Courtois, Missouri to Firman and Virgie Mincher Midyett. He was united in marriage to Susan Boehm who passed away in 2005 and later in May of 2010, he was united in marriage to Carol Jordan Bays.

Lawrence served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked for Southwest Truck Body Shop and then in maintenance at Washington University where he retired. He and Carol attended the Viburnum Free Will Baptist Church. Lawrence was a member of the Viburnum Eagles Club and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Susan Midyett; two brothers, Leonard Midyett and wife Betty and Johnny Midyett; four sisters, Lula Brakefield and husband Johnny, Julia Dotson and husband Wilson, Lura Brazzell and husband Ken and Beulah Midyett; step-daughter, Patricia Baird; and one grandchild, Korey Woods.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Carol Midyett of Viburnum, MO; three daughters, Tammy Boyer and husband Rodney of Potosi, MO, Michelle Midyett of St. Louis, MO and Katrina Striplin of Eldon, MO; three step-daughters, Karen Wilhite and husband Tracy of Davisville, MO, Shari Halbert and husband Rastus of Steelville, MO and Sandy Paintner of St. Louis, MO; one step-son, Jim Bays and wife Courtney of High Ridge, MO; one sister, Erma Abney and husband Devound of Viburnum, MO; two grandchildren, Kelsey Hettenhausen and husband Zack and Jessica Boyer; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Jordan and Chloe; fourteen step-grandchildren; and twenty-two step-great-grandchildren;sister-in-law, Lovetta Midyett of Sullivan, MO; two brothers-in-law, Robert Mobray and Gary Jordan of Viburnum, MO and Richard Jordan of Marshall, MO.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Evan Bell officiating. Special music of "Landslide" was played and other music of "Long Black Train" and "Go Rest High" was played and sung by Kevin and Kim Abney.

Committal prayer and interment with Full Military Honors by the U.S. Army were in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery at Viburnum, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Rodney Boyer, Mike Abney, Kevin Abney, Gary Jordan, Tracy Wilhite and Rastus Halbert with Robert Mobray and Richard Jordan as honorary.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
