Richard Noah Callahan of Cherryville, Missouri passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 in St. Louis at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 17 days. He was born September 4, 1948 in St. Louis to Noah and Jessie Dunlap Callahan. On February 1, 1975 in Steelville, he was united in marriage to Shirley Scott and to this union one daughter was born.
Richard graduated from Cherryville High School. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He later went to work at Chrysler in St. Louis retiring from there after thirty years. Richard attended Center Ridge Pentecostal Church for several years. Throughout the many years, Richard enjoyed spending time on their land and working it to look like a park setting. Most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Jessie Callahan
He will be sadly missed by his wife of almost forty-four years, Shirley Callahan; one daughter, Christie (Nate) Smith of Cabool, MO; four grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Ethan and Bryce Smith; three sisters, Darlene (Gordon) Younce of Cape Girardeau, MO, Ruby (Lawrence) Reed of Cuba, MO and Barbara (Larry) Elder of Cedar Hill, MO; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Roger Silvey officiating. Special music of "God on the Mountain" and "Precious Memories" was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.
Honored to be casket bearers were Shawn Triplett, Matthew Elder, Scott Callahan, Benny Younce, Bobby Younce and Nathan Smith.
The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
