Roberta White Obituary

Roberta Maxine White, nee Martin, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Steelville Senior Living Center at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 16 days. She was born November 4, 1926 in Westover, Missouri to Robert "Dick" and Frona Mae Trask Martin. Roberta was united in marriage to Everett White who preceded her in death.

Roberta was a rural route mail carrier for over forty years, driving ninety-six miles a day, six days a week and finally retiring in 1993. She was a very caring person for all of her route families and all of her family. During her life, she also worked at different restaurants in the area and owned one in Cuba for a few years after Everett's death. She was a very busy mom as she worked, raised her children and had to be "dad" also. She took time throughout the years to can pickles, sew for her family, and have a garden.

She attended the Assembly of God Church in Steelville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett White; two brothers, James "Jim" Martin and Cecil Martin and wife Flo; and one sister, Anna Mae White.

She will be sadly missed by her one son, Richard White of Bloomington, MN; two daughters, Tina Blanton and Daphne Mounce and husband Homer all of Steelville, MO; two brothers, Henry Martin and wife Bonnie of Davisville, MO and Albert Martin and wife Lorene of Steelville, MO; one sister, Mabel Volner of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law, Betty Martin of Steelville, MO; ten grandchildren, Sherri (Randy) Martin, Mike (Rhonda) Mounce, Brad Mounce, Christopher Mounce, Joshua (April) Dodson, Jeremiah Dodson, Jared Dodson, Whitney White, Kelsey White and McKenzie White; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Pastor Mike Mounce officiating. Special memories, a poem written by a great-grandson and the obituary were shared by Rhonda Mounce. Special music of "Look For Me" was sung by Whitney White and Mike Mounce with Mike on guitar. Other music of "What a Day that Will Be" was sung by Whitney, Kelsey and McKenzie White with Whitney on piano. Postlude and prelude were played by Rosella Roberts on the organ.

Committal prayer and music of "Amazing Grace" sung by all with Pastor Mike Mounce on guitar and interment were in the Asher Cemetery, St. James, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Autumn Dodson, Summer Dodson, Micah Dodson, Robert Martin, Christopher Mounce, Bryce Mounce, Rusty Mounce and Josh Dodson.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
