Winford Pryor Obituary

Winford Lloyd Pryor of Richwoods, Missouri, formerly of Viburnum, MO passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at his home at the age of 97 years, 9 months and 26 days. He was born March 13, 1922 in Boss, Missouri to Alva and Birdie Hinson Pryor. On March 31, 1941 in Ironton, Missouri he was united in marriage to Edith Irene Baker and to this union three children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Birdie Pryor; wife, Edith Pryor; two sons, Larry Pryor and infant Ronald Pryor; son-in-law, Earl Hedgcoth; five brothers, Clifton Pryor, Lorian Pryor, Cleo Pryor, Alva Pryor, Jr. and Floyd Pryor; five sisters, Ruby Hedrick, Eunice Vance, Iva Bergner, Alpha Maddox and Melba Conway; brother-in-law, Noel Baker; and sister-in-law, Jeral (Buck) Gallaher.

He will be missed by his one daughter, Linda Snyder (companion, Robert Jaros) of Richwoods, MO; three grandchildren, Marty Hedgcoth, Tammy Bourbon and Pam (Jimmy) Hardesty; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Hedgcoth, Bradley Hedgcoth, Shelby Hedgcoth, Emily Hedgecoth, Lindsey Wilson, Trey Harris, Keri (Jason) Zumbrum and Tayler Harris; nine great-great-grandchildren, Asher, Brandon, Kamrynn, Jaxon, Briar, Easton, Parker, Karson and Kynnzleigh; other relatives; many friends; and his two dogs, Toby and Dixie Doodle.

Winford had been a member of the Grace Assembly Church in St. Louis for many years and a member of Boss Assembly Church. He will be always be known as one of God’s warriors.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his coon hounds. When younger, he loved to shoot marbles and play baseball. He was also an avid Cardinal baseball fan. Most of all he loved his church and his family.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Boss Assembly of God Church with Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Special music of "If You only knew" and "If You could see where I am Resting" was sung by Kevin and Kim Abney. Prelude and postlude were played on piano by Pam Davis.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Boss Cemetery, Boss Missouri.

Honored to be casket bearers were Bob Jaros, Jimmy Hardesty, Marty Hedgcoth, Brandon Hedgcoth, Bradley Hedgcoth and Trey Harris.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
