Billy "Bill" Don Stites of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 7 days. He was born August 12, 1941 in Keysville, Missouri to Winfred Stites and Dovie Oxendine Stites. In 1962, he was united in marriage to Sherry Bryan and to this union four children were born.
Bill lived and worked on a dairy farm with his brothers until he went to work with his father-in-law (Paul Bryan) at Echo Supply Company in March of 1964. He worked there for thirty-two years before retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed bowling on a league in his younger years. He enjoyed gigging many times with his brothers, brother-in-law and father-in-law and loved to hunt especially with his son. Bill was always looking forward to turkey and deer season, but his favorite was turkey hunting since it was a little more challenging. He also loved coon hunting with his favorite dog "May Belle" and had won over one hundred trophies. Bill loved watching his children play sports and tried to go to every sporting event they were involved in, even though he felt the games were a little loud at times. He coached little league baseball for many years when his son Brian and his friends were young and the girls would always go to cheer them on. Most of all he loved spoiling his grandchildren and enjoyed all of the family get togethers, especially when there was going to be chicken, dumplings and coconut cream pie involved.
Bill accepted the Lord into his heart and was baptized on September 14, 2014 in front of family and friends with Pastor Jerry Beers doing the honors at Bill's request.
