Clarence "Gene" Eugene Colyott of Steelville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Gibbs Care Center at the age of 86 years. Gene was born April 16, 1929 in Lesterville, Missouri to Clarence Edgar Colyott and Effie Jane Huff Colyott. He was united in marriage to Flora "Toots" Hammerschmidt and she passed away in 1992. He later married Cleo Alta Burrus who also passed away in 2005. Gene always enjoyed taking time to go fishing. He is survived by his son, Joe Colyott of St. Louis, MO; two daughters, Theresa Bick of St. Louis, MO and Vicki Stephens of Columbia, IL; two brothers, Henry Gipson of Fayetteville, IL and Cleval Colyott of Princeton, IL; two sisters, Edna Mahurin of Mt. Grove, MO and Dessie Wake of Annapolis, MO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flora Colyott and second wife, Cleo Colyott; one son, Clarence Eugene Colyott, Jr.; four brothers, Olin Gipson, Daniel Gipson, Ivan Colyott and Bill Colyott; and two sisters, Lillie Laramore and Delsie Laramore. The Family chose cremation as the final disposition. There will be a private family inurnment in the Steelville Cemetery at a later date. The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
