Gladys Maude Moutray, nee Hicks, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 96 years, 5 months and 9 days. She was born April 28, 1919 in Butts, Missouri to James Hicks and Alice Adams Hicks. In August of 1938 in Union, Missouri, Gladys was united in marriage to Delbert Moutray who preceded her in death in 1985. Gladys attended Fairview Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and quilting. She will be sadly missed by her son, Terry Moutray and wife Vickie of Steelville, MO; three daughters, Rhonda Curtis of Steelville, MO, Carol Prater of Mariposa, CA and Jo Ellen Blaine and husband Jim of St. James, MO; one sister, Ruthene Ele of Alton, IL; three grandchildren, Vanessa Curtis-Reeder and husband Charles, Valenda Curtis and Jordan Blaine; four great-grandchildren, Jacob and Aaron Reeder, Jasmine Blaine and Brianah Blaine; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert Moutray; infant daughter, Sandra Kay Moutray; three brothers, Bill, Clyde and Merle Hicks; and two sisters, Alta Coleman and Nellie Kaiser. The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of "In the Garden", "Nearer My God To Thee", "I'll Fly Away" and "How Great Thou Art" was played. Committal prayer and interment were in the Fairview Cemetery, Butts, MO. Honored to be casket bearers were Ron Hicks, Cecil Kaiser, Brent Kaiser, Jerry Kaiser and Terry Moutray. The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
