Obituary

Harry Harold Martin III, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 11 days after 21 odd-defying months of battling cancer. He was born July 30, 1973 in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry H. Martin Jr. and Marianne F. Roller Martin. On September 28, 2002 in Steelville, he was united in marriage to Amy S. Mounce and to this union two sons were born.

Harry was a member of the Laborers Local 840 Union for the last twenty-four years working for N.B. West Contracting, his latest employee. As a member of this local union, Harry always proved he was dedicated, committed and a great leader. During his time with the union, he became an auditor in 2005 and was elected to the executive board in 2008. In January 2010, he was elected Vice-President and held that position until his retirement in March 2015.  He was a member of Steelville Presbyterian Church. Harry always enjoyed working on cars and especially his 1967 Chevelle SS 396. He found time to take his sons on nature walks, shooting their guns, but mostly being with his family and loving every moment. He loved being with his Grandma Martin and taking her for rides and going to car and gas pump shows with his dad. Harry also loved spending time sitting on the porch talking to his father-in-law, Dave and spending time with his mother-in-law, Anna, working on various projects. He loved teaching Hayden about cars and going on adventures to find the best French fries with Evan. Harry also loved teaching his boys all about rock bands, especially 80's music.  He loved the laughter and love when he was with his sister Becky and John and nephew Elias and niece, Eliana. He loved his wife, Amy with his whole heart and soul. He never wasted a minute of their life together...he would always say, "every love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite."  Harry loved his family and his friends. He was courageous, brave, a positive fighter not only for himself but his family and friends and always keeping his humor no matter what. He loved his community and found out what a supporter they were during his courageous battle. The community loved him and his family and he cherished it all.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harry H. Martin, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Albert and Ruth (Seesler) Roller; his mother, Marianne Martin; and three precious babies whom he was holding the moment he entered Heaven.

Harry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of fourteen years, Amy Martin of Steelville, MO; two sons, Hayden Charles and Evan David Martin; his father, Harry H. Martin, Jr. of Steelville, MO; grandmother, Wilma Martin of Steelville, MO;  sister, Rebecca White and husband John of Steelville, MO and Eric Earney (as a brother) and wife Melanie of Union, MO; father-in-law, David Mounce of Steelville, MO; mother and father-in-law, Anna Wishon and Skip of Steelville, MO; one niece, Eliana and one nephew, Elias; grandmother-in-law, Dovie Conaway of Steelville, MO; aunts, uncles, cousins, many friends, and all who were blessed to know him here on earth.
