Pearl Jean (Jeanie) Worley of Cherryville, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St.Louis at the age of 66 years, 8 months and 14 days. At the time of her death she was surrounded by family and close friends. Jeanie was born July 21, 1948 in Cherryville, Missouri to Wm. Calvin "Tad" and Georgia Pearl Worley.
Jeanie received Jesus into her heart at a very early age and never stopped loving Him. Her greatest desire was that everyone she knew and loved would receive Him also. Jeanie loved music, especially gospel music. Over the years she would sing first with her entire family and then just with her sister, Janet, "The Worley Girls." She went to college at Cape Girardeau where her roommates convinced her she could learn to play the guitar. She went out, bought the Stella, and taught herself to play. When she returned to Cherryville, her skill with the guitar and her "pure" soprano/tenor voice would open doors for her to join local gospel groups.
After Jeanie returned to the Cherryville area, she spent the next part of her life working at Brown Shoe Company until it closed. Then she became a postal mail carrier until her health would no longer allow her to continue working. Jeanie loved sports; playing, watching and teaching the game. Anyone who knew Jeanie knew the "Cowboys" were her team. She loved the outdoors; hunting and fishing. She bought a gun and taught herself. No matter what the wildlife season, Jeanie had the tag. She did not let her disabilities keep her from hunting and usually convinced someone else to join her. Though she never married or had children of her own, she showered love and encouragement on many children along the years, calling them her own.
Jeanie leaves behind one sister, Janet and husband Reggie Noot of Dunegan, MO; one niece, Rachel and husband Alan Lockhart; one nephew, Nathan and Christa Noot; two grand nieces, McKenzie Noot and Schyler Lockhart: two grand nephews, Kody and Kaden Noot all of Bolivar, MO; one Godson, Brandon Pratt; one uncle Noble Hutson, Jr. and wife Linda of Cherryville, MO; and a host of cousins and close friends. With Jean's friends they became family and family became friends. Those friends who ushered her home were Nancy, Sally, Cathy, Cindy and Brandon and honorary caregivers Brenda and Carla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three aunts, Lueretta and husband Herman Bilbrey; Juanita and husband Harold Land; Leota and husband Warren Evans; two uncles, Orville S "Buster" Worley and wife Helen; and Jerry Lee Hutson; two cousins, Dobey Evans and Timothy Bilbrey.
