John "Jack" Gregory Lally of St. Louis, Missouri passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 96 years, 10 months and 16 days. Jack was born May 1, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Francis Lally and Sarah Effa Gregory Lally. On August 16, 1941 in Steelville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Margaret Spencer who preceded him in death on January 5, 2008.

He worked for many years in St. Louis as a machinist making piston rings and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

He always loved being with his family and will be missed by all.

He is survived by three daughters, Susan Weiss and husband Rudi and Patricia Platt and husband Ron all of St. Louis, MO and Kathleen Rohr and companion, Nancy Freeman of St. Jospeh, MO; sister in-law, Lillian Spencer of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Rebecca Hughes and husband Patrick, Jessica Davenport and husband Daniel, Gregory Rohr, Kelly Anne Rohr and Adrianne Heithoff and husband Steven; eight great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one niece, Janet Spencer; two nephews, Frank Spencer and David Spencer; one great-niece, Jenna Spencer; other relatives and friends;

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Lally; one sister, Florence Marie Lally; and one brother in-law, Charles Spencer.

The Family received friends from Noon until service time on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Steelville Cemetery with Bill Bennett officiating. Memories were shared by granddaughter, Rebecca Hughes. Special music of "This is My Father's World" was sung by all.

Honored to be casket bearers were Ron Platt, Gregory Rohr, Patrick Hughes, Daniel Davenport, Frank Spencer and David Spencer.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
