June Hewkin, nee Bassett, of St. Peters, MO passed away Thursday, January 26, 2017 at her home at the age of 82. She was born June 19, 1934 in St. Louis, MO to Claude and Marie Sprague Bassett. On March 11, 1955 she was united in marriage to Donald Francis Hewkin and to this union three children were born.

June attended Grace Community Church in St. Peters, MO. She enjoyed meeting her friends at the McDonald Breakfast Club, gardening and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Hewkin; sister Luellen Bassett; brother, Gordon Bassett; brothers-in-law, Buster (Vera) Hewkin, Rodney Hewkin, Homer (Leora) Hewkin, Lynn (Carol) Hewkin, Jim Hewkin; sisters-in-law, Eloise Garms and Naomi (Walter) Boll.

She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Kevin (Cheryl) Hewkin of Long Island, NY and Steven (Donna) Hewkin of St. Peters, MO; one daughter, Dawn (Michael Edens) Hewkin of Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Steven (Brittany) Hewkin, Michael, Dylan and Marisa Hewkin; one great-grandson, Harrison; sister-in-law, Darlene (Jim) Cape of Cuba, MO, Colleen (Glenn) Woolbright of Manchester, MO and Marilyn Hewkin of Cuba, MO; brother-in-law, Jay Garms of Steelville, MO; other relatives and friends.

The Family received friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Grace Community Church in St. Peters, MO and from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO

Funeral services were held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Grace Community Church in St. Peters, MO with Pastor Dair Hileman and Pastor David Early officiating with family members singing and reading scripture. A Family celebration was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with prayers and memories shared by Pastor Terry Mahurin and Kevin Hewkin officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace", "Wells and Stars", "Ever Be" and "Go Rest High" was played and sung by family. Other music was played by Darlene Cape along with prelude and postlude. Memories were shared by family members.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Turnbough-Hewkin Cemetery at Davisville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Steven Hewkin, Kevin Hewkin, Mike Edens (favorite son-in-law), Steven Hewkin, Jr., Mike Hewkin and Dylan Hewkin.
