Marie Helen McDole Gormley, nee Clifton, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, October 28, 2016 in Perryville, Missouri at the age of 92 years, 4 months and 23 days. She was born June 5, 1924 in Menfro, Missouri to Leonidas and Flora Julia Schindler Clifton. In December of 1947, she was united in marriage to Howard McDole and after his passing, she was united in marriage to Maurice Gormley in May of 1991.

Marie was a member of St. Michael Church. She spent over forty-five years in different capacities volunteering her time in helping the Senior Nutrition Program when it was located in the Presbyterian Church and later when a new building was built as Golden Echoes. Her dedication to the community lives on in many ways. She always enjoyed traveling and keeping up with the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball team.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Howard McDole and second husband, Maurice Gormley; one step-son, James McDole;  three brothers, James Clifton and wife Norma, Bernard Clifton and wife Willie and Fred Clifton and wife Stella; one sister, Rita Vessell and husband Emil.

She is survived by step-daughter-in-law, Dorothy McDole of St. Peters, MO; two step-granddaughters, Beth Quinn and Laura McDole; three step-great-grandchildren, Kevin and Shannon Quinn and Julia Gaipa; twenty-two nieces and nephews; sixty-one great nieces and nephews; eighty-nine great-great nieces and nephews; four great-great-great nephews and niece; other relatives and many friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, MO.

A Prayer Service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Deacon Earl Horsefield.

A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Steelville, MO with Father Richard Boever officiating. Music of "In the Garden", "Amazing Grace", "Precious Lord" and "Oh Loving God" was played and sung by organist, Karin West.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Barnicle Chapel Cemetery, Steelville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Jerry Bryan, Terry Bryan, Robert Clifton, James Clifton, Richard Clifton and Tom Kennedy.
