Obituary

Noel Glen Grayson was born on September 11, 1928 in Steelville, Missouri and passed away on November 16, 2012 at the age of 84 years 2 months and 5 days.

Glen spent his entire life in and around Steelville and was proud of his hometown and the people there.  He attended the Steelville Public Schools and graduated from Steelville High School in 1946. In 1946 he volunteered for the United States Army and served his country including duty in Japan.  He was Honorably Discharged in 1949. He was employed by Brown Shoe Company in Steelville in October 1949.  While there he served as Shop Steward and President of the local union, representing the people he worked alongside.  In 1965 he was asked to work for the United Food and Commercial Union as an International Representative.  Glen served 21 years working tirelessly for workers and laborers across the country - constantly fighting to improve working conditions and living wages.  He retired in 1984.

Glen was united in marriage with Shirley Dingley, and their marriage was blessed with four children, Lena, Roger, Melinda (Missy) and Alan.  Glen and Shirley took pride in leading their children into deeply devoted relationships.  They showed their children the meaning and purpose of family through their loving example and gifts of time.  The family spent countless joyful hours together  fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and enjoying Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, family birthdays and gatherings. Glen was a farmer, a man of the land.  He passed the life lessons he learned from his grandfather on to his sons and grandsons when they spent time together working the farms in addition to his home place.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola May Schoen, his stepfather Milford Schoen, his sister Violet Ann Luhring, his niece Sally Luhring, his grandparents George and Sarah Grayson, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.
