Shirley Jean Scowden, of Steelville, Mo passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at her home at the age of 81 years, 2 months and 13 days. She was born Wednesday, June 28, 1933 in Steelville, Missouri to John Jiles Woolsey and Irma Elizabeth Housewright Woolsey.

She worked at Farm Bureau for many years. She never met a stranger and loved meeting and visiting people at work. Shirley loved to shop and not only would buy the outfit, she would buy all of the accessories to match. She always talked about how much she loved to dress up.

She is survived by one daughter, Pam Sanders and husband Pat of Steelville; one son, Tom Murphy and wife Yvonne of Steelville, MO; one brother, John Dale Woolsey and wife Valerie of Steelville; five grandchildren, P. J. Sanders and wife Jill, Chris Sanders and wife Erica, Kayla Sanders, Tom Murphy and Mandy Bowen and husband Bobby all of Steelville, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Gavin, Haven, Addison, Ian, Baylor, Josie and Hadlee-Jo; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Lou West and husband Norman.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
