Anna Mae Vance Obituary

Anna Mae Vance, nee Gillam, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 21 days. She was born August 22, 1935 in Courtois, Missouri to Cloan Gillam and Clara Keffer Gillam. Anna Mae was united in marriage to Eugene “Gene” Vance on July 23, 1955 at Shoal Creek and to this union three sons and six daughters were born.

Anna Mae had attended Lookout Assembly at Czar for many years. She worked for several years as a cook in Viburnum restaurants and at Eagle Hurst.  She was known for good cooking and her fried pies and chicken and dumplings were always enjoyed by the family. She enjoyed making a garden and tending to her flowers. Most of all she loved being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cloan and Clara Gillam; her husband Gene Vance; one daughter, Ella Jo (David) Greenwalt; son-in-law, Kevin Medley; five brothers, Homer Gillam, Herman (Claudia) Gillam, Loman (Shirley) Gillam, Howard (Shirley) Gillam and Purn Gillam; six sisters, Ona (Scott) Britton, Irene (Arlie) Blair, Alene (Arthur) Draper, Lucille (Vincent) Reeves, Bessie (Eddie) Henslee, Thelma (George) Maxwell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale Vance, Robert Vance, Lester Vance, Thomas Vance, Elsie (Clyde) Hill, Esther (Bill) Clonts and Lee (John) Kearney.

She will be sadly missed by her three sons, Frank (Darla) Vance of Cherryville, MO, Ronnie (Laura) Vance of Herman, MO and Herman (Darlene) Vance of Steelville, MO; five daughters, Lena Medley of Belgrade, MO, Ethel (Wayne) Medley of Bixby, MO, Fay (Larry) Conduitt of Cuba, MO, Anna (Rick) Edgar of Steelville, MO and Fern (Rodney) Conaway of Steelville, MO; sisters-in-law, Delores Gillam of Davisville, MO and Lottie Vance of Steelville, MO; twenty grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.

The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 with Evangelist Ronnie Dean Raven officiating and Rev. Ronnie Chandler giving prayer, reading a poem "The Watcher" and the obituary. Special music of "Come Spring" was sung by Jess and Sharon Hedrick. Other special music of "Go Rest High" was played from a prerecording sunby by the late Stanley Chandler.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were grandchildren, Blake Vance, Lee Vance, Keith Vance, Adam Thomas, Alan Edgar, Curtis Medley, Chris Greenwalt and Daulton Conaway.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
