Anthony “Tony” L. Martin of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, November 1, 2024 in St. Louis Barnes Hospital at the age of 58 years, 3 months and 16 days. Tony was born July 16, 1966 in Rolla, Missouri to James “Jim” and Betty Harris Martin.
Tony graduated from Steelville High School in 1985. After high school he attended a Carpenter’s Apprentice Program in St. Louis. At 55 years old, Tony retired from carpentry work and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #2298 after 30 years of service. He was also a member of the Martin-Trask Cemetery Board.
Tony was united in marriage on September 27, 1986 in Steelville to Laura Becker and to this union two daughters were born.
Tony attended and was a member of Straightway Baptist Church for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and raising cattle. Tony always enjoyed going to the Crawford County Fair for several years, especially during the times when his daughters showed their 4-H steers and in later years with his grandson. He was a member of the Martin-Trask Cemetery Board.
Tony enjoyed getting together and having family dinners. He loved his family and being a big part of his children and grandchildren’s life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Martin; and father-in-law, Bob Becker.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 38 years, Laura Martin; two daughters, Jessica (Zac) Driskill of Steelville, MO and Shannon (Jarek) Nash of St. James, MO; three grandchildren, Lawson, Tate and Stevie; mother, Betty Martin of Steelville, MO; two brothers, Randy Martin of Cherryville, MO and Keith (Cathy) Martin of Steelville, MO; one sister, Susan (Jim) Britton of Steelville, MO; mother-in-law, Linda Becker of Steelville, MO; brother-in-law, Jim (Valley) Becker of Steelville, MO and sister-in-law, Lisa (Steve) Adams of Steelville, MO.
Private Family Graveside Services were held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at the Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO with Rev. Mike Mounce officiating and Dylan Becker reading the obituary. Special music of "How Great Thou Art" and "I'll Fly Away" was sang by Rev. Mike Mounce on guitar. Memories were shared by his cousin, Mike Mounce, daughter, Jessica, grandson, Lawson and wife, Laura.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Zac Driskill, Jarek Nash, Keith Martin, Jim Becker, Pat Smith, Michael Reed and Lawson Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials made be made in Tony’s name to the Martin-Trask Cemetery in care of Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
