Audrey Callahan Obituary

Audrey Isabell Callahan, nee Wilson, of Cuba, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the Arbors in Cuba at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 12 days. She was born March 25, 1937 in Shirley, Missouri to Harry Edward Wilson and Sarah Florene Best Wilson. She was united in marriage to Floyd Callahan, Jr. and to this union two children were born.

Audrey, was employed at Baldor Electric in Valley Park for a number of years and also worked at Gen Corp in Cuba, Mobile in Bourbon, BW Freeman and Ozark Technology in Cuba and also as a cook for the Steelville Public Schools.  She attended the Faith Chapel Church in Cuba.

Audrey was a member of the Golden Girls in Steelville for a few years. She always enjoyed playing Uno, word search and reading Romance books. When Vicki was young, Audrey was the Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed cooking and could make the best fried chicken, especially the wings. She was an excellent mother to her children after their father passed away in 1976 and was always there for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Wilson and Florene Brewer; and step-father, Clement Albert Brewer; husband, Floyd Callahan, Jr.; two brothers, Wendell Wilson and Stanley Wilson; three sisters, Norma Phares, Bonnie Gibson and Juanita Ushery; and one granddaughter, Tanya.

She is survived by her son, Carl (Judy) Callahan of Cuba; and daughter, Vicki Moss of Cuba, MO; three grandchildren, Tonya (James) Scott, Dempsey (Angie) Callahan and Becky (Ryan) Cole; seven great-grandchildren, Dominique, Donoven, Dalton, Charity, Kyle, Kaleb and McKenna; five great-great-grandchildren nieces, nephews, other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Mounce officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace" was sung and played by Valerie Thomas. Other music of "He Touched Me" and "How Great Thou Art" was sung by Bob and Carol Coleman. A special poem was read by Angie Callahan.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.

Honored to be casket bearers were Tom Blanton, Dalton Callahan, Kylen Ray, Donavan Callahan, Isaiah Thompson and Allen Graddy.

The Callahan Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
