Barbara Stricklin Obituary

Barbara Zora Stricklin, nee Manues, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was born January 5, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to John Golden Manues and Bertha Alma Christenson Manues.

Barbara grew up at the Keysville area and attended the Cherryville School during her youth.             

After accepting Jesus as her Savior, she was baptized at 16 years of age along with her father by Pastor Willis Callahan. She attended Wesco Baptist Church in her earlier years,                  .

Barbara was united in marriage to Roman Stricklin on February 24, 1962 in St. Louis, MO and to this union two sons and two daughters were born.

She was employed at Brown Shoe for 37 years and later worked in home health for 15 years.

Barbara enjoyed helping her children with their 4-H projects through the years along with raising pigs and other animals during those years.  She spent many a time taking care of concessions at her kids Khoury League games and being a part of their activities. Barbara always enjoyed bowling and was on a league in Steelville on Thursday nights for several years. She also enjoyed going to auctions in her spare time.

Most of all she loved being with her family, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Bertha Manues; her husband, Roman Stricklin; all seven brothers, Richard (Audrey) Manues, Raymond (Dorothy) Manues, Donald (Cathy) Manues, Johnny (Gail) Manues, Edward (Josephine) Barber, Louis (Virginia) Barber and Jimmy (Geneva) Barber; four sisters, Mary (Larry) Husch, Sandra (John) Husch, Jaunita “Sissy” (Charles) Zorn and adopted sister, Merna Smith; grandson, Scott Pelton; parents-in-law, Leslie and Ethel Stricklin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cecil Graddy, Lawrence (Rosie) Stricklin, Norman Stricklin, Cecil (Betty Jean) Stricklin, Jessie (Betty Lou) Stricklin, Cletis Stricklin and two infants.

She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Michael (Rebecca) Stricklin of Arnold, MO and Kenneth (Alicia) Stricklin of Rolla, MO; two daughters, Kathaleen (companion, Dean Stegmanm) Sanders and Linda Stricklin all of Steelville, MO; twelve grandchildren, Travis (Jennifer Winner) Sanders, Cody Sanders, Leslie (Kevin Lipson) Stricklin, Kara (Zachary) Link, Urilla (Reid Conaway) Hardin, Christopher (Marika) Stricklin, Lena (Garrick Lonning) Stricklin, Paden (Sheena) Stricklin, “Little Roman” Hardin, Ashley Pelton, Gracie and Maddie Stegmann; nine great-grandchildren, Chase Sanders, K.C. Sanders, J. C. Sanders, Tinley Sanders, Tanner Stricklin, Ziva Link, Ian, Gavin and Jayla Pelton; one sister, Frances Graddy of Owensville, MO; many nieces and nephews, other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from  5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025  at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Sharing thoughts was Barbara's daughter-in-law, Rebecca Stricklin. Special music of "How Do I Say Goodbye", "Please Remember Me" and "Still Waters (Psalms 23) was played.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Keysville Cemetery, Keysville, MO.

Honored to serve as casket bearers were Travis Sanders, Paden Stricklin, Christopher Stricklin, Cody Sanders, Zach Link and K.C. Sanders.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Keysville Cemetery at FCNB, P.O. Box 159, Steelville, MO 65565
