Barbara "Barb" Bryan Obituary

Barbara "Barb" Jolene Bryan, nee Tasset, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the age of 78 years, 6 months and 5 days.

She was born on February 23, 1946 in Pratt, Kansas to Everett and Justina Tasset. Barb graduated from St. Agnes Catholic High School , Springfield, MO in 1964. She graduated from SMS (Missouri State University) with a degree in Art Education. She later earned her Master’s degree in Art from the University of Illinois at Normal, IL.

Barb was united in marriage to Terry Bryan on May 31, 1981 at the St. Joseph the Worker Church in Ozark, MO and to their marriage they had one son and one daughter.

Barb taught art at the elementary, secondary and college level for 30 plus years, retiring on May 21, 2009. Besides her talent for teaching art, Barb practiced her own art techniques with her paintings, pottery, jewelry and weaving. 

She was a founding member of the Steelville Arts Council and a member of the Impact 100 Club/Crawford Co.

Barb was preceded in death by her; her daughter, Ksenia Kimberly Bryan; her son, Damian John Bryan; parents, Everett and Justina Tasset ; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Windell and Betty Bryan; sisters, Valeria Tasset and Roselia Lawrence; brothers, Mark, Glenn and Damian Tasset.

Barb will be deeply missed by her husband of 42 years, Terry Bryan of Steelville; brothers, Carl, Emmett, Harry and Quentin Tasset; sisters, Anita Ball, Bibi Anna Thomas, Lorraine Coose and Regina Hessler; brother-in-law, Jerry (Mary) Bryan of Steelville, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; other relatives; and many friends.

The Family received friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

A Celebration of Life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024 with Rev. Wendy Downing officiating. Special music of "Vincent", "In My Life", "Time in a Bottle", "I’m Still Here" and "Way Over Yonder" was played.

Committal prayer and inurnment were in the Pinnell Cemetery, Steelville, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Barb’s name to the Steelville Arts Council.

The Bryan Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
