Betty Bryan Obituary

Betty Lou Bryan, nee Summers, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 22 days. She was born November 15, 1930 in Crawford County to Clarence and Katherine Mullen Summers. On December 18, 1948 in Steelville, Missouri, Betty was united in marriage to Wendell “Salty” P. Bryan and to this union two sons were born.

Betty was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church and the Steelville Arts Council. She was also a past member of the Highland Busy Bees Extension Club for several years. Betty was employed at the local drug store for many years and was well remembered by so many of her customers and friends. She enjoyed quilting, baking, gardening and taking care of her beautiful flowers. Betty was a very special and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Windell Bryan; granddaughter, Ksenia Kimberly Bryan; daughter-in-law, Fern Bryan; brother-in-law’s, Levi Mitchell, Dick McInnis, Louie Picarella, Jewel Bryan, Jim Bryan, Russell Bryan, Parker Ray, and Bud Sappington; sister-in-law’s, Mary Katherine Low and husband Don and Anna Louise Gerling.

Betty will be sadly missed by her two sons, Jerry Bryan and wife Mary and Terry Bryan and wife Barbara all of Steelville, MO; three grandchildren, Lisa Marie (Roger) Cooper, Christopher Allen (Pamela) Bryan and Damian John Bryan; five great-grandchildren, Riley and Gunnar Cooper and Carter, Jackson and Oliver Bryan; one brother, John Summers and wife Joan of Cedar Hill, MO; three sisters, Georgia Mitchell of Memphis, TN,  Beverly McInnis of St. James, MO and Clara Jo Picarella of Festus, MO; brother-in-law’s, Thomas Bryan and wife Shirley and Charles Bryan and wife Mary Ann of St. Charles, MO and Larry Gerling of Villa Ridge, MO; sister-in-law’s, Velma Allison of Cuba, MO, Wanda Ray, Norma Sappington and Sherlene Bryan all of St. Charles, MO, Georgia Bryan of St. James, MO, Ina Bouse of Steelville, MO and Fairy Walker of Sullivan, MO; other relatives; and many friends.

The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Pastor Wendy Downing and Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  Special music of "One Day at a Time"  and "Ave Maria'" was sung by Brian Taylor and "In the Garden" was sung by Brian Taylor and Jerry Beers accompanied on piano by Connie Rhea. Music of  "Why Me Lord" and "Walking on Sunshine" was played. Prelude and postlude along with "How Great Thou Art" were played on the organ by Karin West.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Pinnell Cemetery, Steelville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were James McInnis, Randy Mitchell, Chris Bryan, Damian Bryan, Roger Cooper and Kyle Ridenhour.

The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
