Betty Waller Obituary

Betty Lou Waller, nee Walker, of Fulton, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Kingdom Care in Fulton at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 24 days. She was born October 24, 1929 in Butts, MO to Alvin Russell Walker and Edna Williams Walker. Betty grew up in Steelville and had many wonderful memories of her Grandma Williams and her home town.

Betty was united in marriage to William “Bill” Waller on April 24, 1948 and to this union two sons and one daughter was born.

Betty was an LPN and was employed for Dr. Baumann, Gibbs Care Center; Crawford County Extension office and the Community Bank throughout the years. Betty and Bill spent many years as business owners in Steelville. They built and operated the Dairy Isle for seven years and then owned and operated the IGA and Save A Lot grocery store from 1973 to 1993. After retirement she and Bill enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.

Betty was a loyal St. Louis Cardinal fan. She loved cooking, baking and was an exceptional seamstress for her family and others. She also enjoyed crocheting, doing crafts and participating in craft shows around the area. She was definitely a perfectionist in whatever she did.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Edna Walker; husband, Bill Waller; son, Ronald William Waller; two brothers, Russell Walker and Jerry (Sonya) Walker; granddaughter, Whitney Waller; and brother-in-law, Wayne Richards.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Richard Allen Waller of Steelville, MO; daughter, Mary Sue (Dean) Smart of Fulton, MO; sister, Sue Richards of Nixa, MO; daughter-in-law, Joe Ann Waller of Steelville, MO; five grandchildren, Chad Waller, Scott (Karla) Waller, Jennifer (Richard) Chiles, Jessica Glover and Jill (Joey) Davies; two step-grandchildren, Kate Smart and Sam Smart; eight great-grand-children, Ty, Isaac, Adah, Liam, Amelia, Finn, Drew and Silas; other relatives; her little high maintenance furry companion, Miss Oprah; and many friends.

A Private Family inurnment Service was held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 in the Steelville Cemetery with Pastor Alan Miles officiating. The song "In the Garden" was sung by all attending.

The Waller Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
