Bobby "Bob" Martin Obituary

Bobby “Bob” Charles Martin, age 83, of Eureka, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2023 in Eureka. Bob was born on February 26, 1940 in Cherryville, Missouri to Robert Jefferson Martin and Beulah Bell Atchison Martin. He grew up on the family farm, graduated from Cherryville High School and left for St. Louis soon after for a job at Bussmann Fuse. He spent his entire career with Bussmann, retiring after 40 years as a machinist. On June 22, 1962 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Diane Thompson and to this union two sons were born.

While attending Cherryville High School he enjoyed playing softball and basketball. In St. Louis he continued to play softball for his company team. Through the years he was a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Bob also loved farming, hunting and fishing on the same land he and his siblings grew up on. He dearly loved attending his grandchildren’s games or performances through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beulah Martin; four brothers, Glen (Marie) Martin, Oren Martin, Noel Martin and Buck Martin; three sisters, Ada Thorpe, Lorraine Mobray and Norene Martin; and brothers-in-law, Steve Dunn, Leroy Jones, Freddy Thorpe and Robert Thompson.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty-one years, Charlotte Martin; two sons, Mitchell (Shari) Martin of Wildwood, MO and Matthew (Michelle) Martin of St. Peters, MO; three grandchildren, Alex, Maddie and Grace Martin; one sister, Erma Dunn of Rolla, MO; two sisters-in-law, Melba Martin of Davisville and Cleta Green of Sullivan, MO; many other relatives and friends.

The Family received friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO. Special music of "What a Day It Will be", "Supper Time" and "Amazing Grace" was played and sung by Rob Morton, Mike Morton and Alice Morton.

A Celebration of Life for friends and family was held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 with Rob Morton, Mitchell Martin and Matthew Martin officiating.

Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Shriners Hospital for Children of St. Louis, Development Office, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110

The Family chose cremation as the final disposition.

The Martin Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO
