Bonnie Dean Bolin of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James at the age of 85 years and 22 days. He was born on June 30, 1935 in Campbell, Missouri to Bee and Ina Sanford Bolin. In 1954, he was united in marriage to Maxine Effie Axle and to this union three sons and one daughter was born.
Bonnie serviced his country honorably in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War era and was of the Catholic faith. He was employed as a plumber pipe fitter in the St. Louis area retiring after many years.
Bonnie enjoyed sports and coached his sons in little league years ago. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and always loved his time riding his motorcycle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bee Bolin and Ina Gertrude Sanford Bolin; one son, Ronald Gene Bolin; twin brother, Johney Gene Bolin; and one sister, Beverly Ann Bolin.
He will be sadly missed by his two sons, Samuel Dean (Charlotte) Bolin of Jonesburg, MO and William James (Kimberly) Bolin of Middletown, MO; one daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth O’Neill of Marthasville, MO; two sisters, Lillian (Gary) Lunsford of Rolla, MO and Sheliah Thompson of St. Peters, MO; sister-in-law, Carnie Bolin of Steelville, MO; ten grandchildren, Jacqueline Mischlispy, Joe King, Paul King, Thomas Pruess, Ashleigh Perry, Kaitlyn O’Neill, Lauren Bolin Begley, Lindsay Bolin, Brian Bolin and Jessica Patton; eighteen great-grandchildren; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of "Old Rugged Cross" was sung and played by grandson, Brian Bolin. Other music of "Amazing Grace" and "Daddy"s Hands" was played. A eulogy and a poem was given by a sister, Sheliah Thompson.
Committal prayer and interment were held at 1:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with full military honors by the U.S. Marines.
Honored to be casket bearers were Nick Warren, Brian Bolin, Paul King, Robert Thompson, Scott Goddard and Alex Thompson.
