Carolyn “Carrie” Joan Archer, nee Ford, of Sligo, Missouri passed away Monday, December 30, 2019 in Steelville at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 11 days. She was born November 19, 1933 in Reed City, Michigan to Wendell and Gaynell Helfrich Ford. In June of 1954, she was united to Lt. Col. Bill Archer at West Point.
After the military retirement of her husband, she and Bill moved to Sligo in 1978. They became members of the Sligo United Methodist Church and spent time taking care of their cattle and bowling. Carrie and her husband traveled all fifty states and Canada with also driving from Panama to the U.S. They were members of the Carriage Travel Club which they enjoyed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Gaynell Ford; husband, Bill Archer, brother-in-law, John Archer; and sister-in-law, Patricia Archer.
Carrie will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Debbie (Emil) Schulke of Sligo, MO, Denise “Gus” (Allen) Coleman of Cherryville, MO and Dianna (Terry) McDonald of Greenville, TX; seven grandchildren, Krista, Jackyn, E.J., Evan, Curtis, Tyler and Mary; eight great-grandchildren, Gracie, Eli, Josh, Keenan, Matthew, Jordan, Grayson and Madelyn; 2 brothers-in-law, Phillip Archer of Brethren, MI and Dean (Joan) Archer of Scottville, MI; and sister-in-law, Mary Archer of Brethren, MI; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 10:00 a.m. to service time on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Pastor Jeanette Boyce officiating. Special music of "Precious Memories", "Jesus, Hold my Hand" and "Old Fashioned Way" was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, MO.
Honored to be casket bearers were Tyler Coleman, EJ Schulke, Jackie Kunkel, Krista McClanahan, Eli Schulke and Grace Kunkel.
The Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
