Charles Dwayne Brown Obituary

Charles Dwayne Brown, age 80 years, 3 months and 25 days, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at his home in Davisville, MO. He was born November 16, 1944 to Harry Brown and Delpha Marie Green Brown. Dwayne grew up in Cherryville, living in that area all of his life. On June 18, 1966 in Cherryville, he was united in marriage to Cathy Callahan and to this union two daughters were born.

He was employed for several years at Brown Shoe Company and also Integram St. Louis Car Seating Co. before retiring.

Dwayne was a man who was very passionate about the Lord and showed it every day of his life with his Bible readings and prayer. He was a faithful member of the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church, a deacon and a board member. Dwayne was a very talented man who loved worshiping the Lord by singing and writing over 200 gospel songs. He also did his due diligence by working part-time as the custodian at the church for fifteen years, retiring in the last year.

He loved his life with his wife, Cathy and the rest of his family. He spent many hours canning  from his garden. His family looked forward to his cooking whether it was fried chicken, never fail pickles, strawberry cobbler and the list goes on.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Harry and Delpha Brown; two sisters, Leora (Homer) Hewkin and Lucille (Glenwood) Turnbough; father and mother-in-law, Landis and Alva Conaway Callahan; sisters-in-law, Brenda Brown; Sylvia (Raymond) Stroup and Sondra Veach; brothers-in-law, Troy Pyatt, Sam (Lillie) Callahan, Gerry Reed, Dennis Simpson and Lindell Thompson.

He will be remembered and lovingly missed by his wife of almost 59 years, Cathy Brown of Davisville, MO; daughters, Shelly (Mike) Abbott of Davisville, MO and Bridget (Everett, Jr.) Phipps of Cherryville, MO; 5 grandchildren, John (Shyann Santhuff) Brown of Salem, MO, Jacob (Crystal) Brown of Cherryville, MO, Jeffery Brown of Davisville, MO, Brianna (Blake) Bradshaw of NC and Adam (Jessica) Phipps of Cherryville, MO; 3 great-grandchildren, Layla Phipps, Lucille Phipps, Theodore Bradshaw and Alayna Brown and Adam Phipps, Jr., which are two more on the way; brothers, Joe Brown of Steelville, MO, Dwight (Betty) Brown and Harrison (Shirley) Brown all of Cherryville, MO; sisters, Bonnie (Henry) Martin and Josephine (Junior) Burrus all of Davisville, MO and Carol (Bob) Coleman of Cherryville, MO; brothers-in-law, Steve Callahan of Viburnum, MO and Johnny Veach of Steelville, MO; sisters-in-law, Anita Bridgeman and Sharon (Emery) Harmon all of Steelville, MO, Patricia Reed of Washington, MO and Sheila Simpson of Cuba, MO.

The Family received friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2025 with Pastor Harrison Brown, Rev. Mike Abbott and Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Music of "It's All About Him", written by Dwayne, was sung and played on guitar by Everett Phipps and Adam Phipps, "Going Home" sung by Bridget Phipps accompanied on guitar by Everett Phipps, "Amazing Grace" and "I Want Us to Be Together, sung and played by Bob and Carol Coleman with Alex Coleman on guitar and Shirley Brown on piano. Poems were read by Bri Bradshaw, "The Faded Picture on the Wall", written by Dwayne and Shirley Brown reading "When Tomorrow Starts Without Me."

Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were John Brown, Jacob Brown, Jeffery Brown, Adam Phipps, Blake Bradshaw and Kevin Brown with Joe Brown, Dwight Brown, Harrison Brown, Steve Callahan, and Johnny Veach as honorary.,

The Brown Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home, Steelville, MO.
