Claude Ellis Morrison of Cuba, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 in the Cuba Manor at the age of 93 years, 6 months and 28 days. He was born June 25, 1931 at Cherryville, MO to his parents, Raymond Ellis Morrison and Marcena Elizabeth, nee Martin, Morrison.
Growing up in Cherryville on a farm, Claude learned how to work hard. He and his parents did leave the farm for a while and moved to St. Louis where he learned other skills which was shining shoes for a year. After a time, he and his parents moved back to Cherryville. As a young man, Claude felt that he needed to return to St. Louis and there is where he met his wife to be and he became united in marriage to Vivian Young and to this union one son and one daughter were born. In 1955, he and his family moved to California where Claude became employed the next year with Douglas Aircraft Company. In 1977, he was united in marriage to Mary Parker for over 30 years. Claude had transferred to Florida during those years with his employer who became McDonnell Douglas. The company contracted with NASA and Claude continued to work on missiles and shuttles such as the Apollo 11, which was used in the first moon landing. While in the control room, he witnessed Neil Armstrong say, “that’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Claude had a very blessed career and retired from that profession after 28 years. He and Mary then moved to Hot Springs, AR where he opened up his own appliance and repair store until Mary’s death in 2008. Later, he met Sandra Moore and was united in marriage to her on January 22, 2010. In a few years, he and Sandra moved back home to Missouri settling in Cuba.
Claude was a man of faith and lived a life of prayer. He made a profession of faith and accepted the Lord as his personal Savior and attended the Steelville Assembly of God Church.
He became a member of the Mountain Grove Masonic Lodge several years ago. Claude loved to socialize and couldn’t pass up a good conversation with all he met.
Claude enjoyed hunting deer, squirrel and rabbits along with fishing. He was also a traveler and spent many good times with his family and on the road exploring new routes whether by an RV or camper throughout the United States. He also continuing traveling back to Florida to attend the reunions with his old working group.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Marcena Morrison; his son, Raymond Morrison; his second wife, Mary Morrison, his third wife, Sandra Morrison; grandchildren, Jon William Muldowney and Daniel Neil Gruver, Jr.; brothers, Lennie (Alma) Morrison, Lloyd (Lemoine) Morrison and Raine Morrison; sisters, Naomi (Claude) Richardson, Norma (Loman) Duke, Irene McKinley and Mary Anna (Cliff) Thompson.
He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Claudette (Jerry) Sanders of Cuba, MO; granddaughter, Cheryl (Jason) Turnbough of Gainesville, MO; 18 bonus grandchildren; 13 bonus great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "How Great Thou Art", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "Amazing Grace was sung by Brenda Bridgeman, Jerry Sanders and Rev. Jerry Beers with Rev. Beers on piano. The eulogy was shared by Jerry Sanders.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, MO.
The Morrison Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral home of Steelville, MO.
