Cleta Jean Green, nee Cottrell, of Steelville, Missouri passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 75 years and 9 months.
She was born in Davisville, MO to Vencil and Alline, nee Harris, Cottrell on March 10, 1949. Cleta graduated from Steelville High School in 1967. On May 12, 1968, she was united in marriage to Buck Martin who passed away in 2000 and to this union one daughter was born. She later married Daniel Green in 2022.
For over thirty years, Cleta worked in real estate for Coldwell Bank in St. Louis making it a great career for her over the years.
For the last few years, Cleta was a member of Sullivan Family Worship Center. Cleta loved collecting cook books and using the many recipes she found. She also loved working in her flower gardens and was an adamant reader of so many types of books, but especially her cook books in which she read like they were novels, Christian romance and life of the Amish. Most of all she loved to travel with family and especially to see her family whether they were in Florida or Maryland. One of her most recent trips was to her grandson Grant’s wedding in San Juan Capistrano, CA which she enjoyed so much.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vencil and Alline Cottrell; her husband, Buck Martin; one brother, Jim (Jan) Cottrell; sister, Karen Wynn; and brother-in-law, Bill Farris.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband, Dan Green of Steelville, MO; one daughter Lori Ann Martin of Los Angeles, CA; ; two grandchildren, Grant (Samantha) Ritter of Los Angeles, CA and Burke Ritter of NY; two bonus daughters, Kelly (Randy) Hartley of Humansville, MO and Amber Green and husband, Joe Speeney of New Jersey; sister, Rhonda Farris of Sullivan, MO; brother, Doug (Jennifer Bayless) Cottrell of Steelville, MO; other relatives; and many friends.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024 with Rev. Duncan Skiles officiating. Special music of "What a Day That Will Be" and "Treasures Unseen" was sung and played by the Morton Family.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.
Honored to be casket bearers were Jared Farris, Jeremy Farris, Ross Farris, Beau Kick, Ronnie Cottrell and Dale Cottrell.
The Green Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
