Obituary

Daniel “Danny” Eugene Garms of Cuba, Missouri, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023 at his home in Cuba at the age of 63 years and 8 days. He was born April 2, 1960 in Kremblin, Colorado to Raymond and Juanita Cloine Garms. In 2014 at Meramec Spring, he was united in marriage to Jean Schevers.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Danny enjoyed being outside whether fishing for catfish or hunting deer and squirrels or mushroom hunting. He loved working in his shed, redoing furniture or being the “family mechanic” and just being able to use his hands. He also spent a lot of time raising rabbits for meat. Danny always enjoyed playing pranks on his children. Most of all he loved spoiling his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Garms and Juanita King; one son, Myron Wayne Garms; and brother, Joe Garms; step-father, Wayne King; step-brother, Windell "Wimp" Sellers; and father-in-law, Tom Bilbro.

He will be missed by his loving wife, Jean Garms of the home; three sons, Matt Garms of Independence, MO, Michael (Abby) Garms of Cuba, MO and Dale (fiancé Courtney) of Rolla, MO; five daughters, Mindy (Jared) Gillam of Union, MO, Miranda (Michael) Davis of Steelville, MO, Victoria Fox of Rolla, MO, Brandi Fox of Steelville, MO and Elana Fox of Cuba, MO; nineteen grandchildren, Chaise Garms, Kaylee (Michael) Steele, Emily Gillam, Rebecca Gillam, Hannah Gillam, Eva Gillam, Lucas Garms, Lance Garms, Lane Davis, Gabby Garms, Hayden Garms,  Jerrick Garms, Millie Garms, Timothy Ryerson, Seren Fox, Ty Fox, Cooper Fox, Raylin Fox, and Emma Fox; two great-grandbabies, Maya Steele and Kayden Steele; brother, Raymond “Butch’ Jr. (Janet) Garms of Fayette, MO; one sister, Laura (Roger) Hill of Columbia, MO; special sister-in-law, Julie Schevers of St. Louis, MO; and mother-in-law, Ginny Schevers of St.Louis, MO; step-mother, Ruth Garms of Steelville, MO; step-brothers,  Wayne Sellers, and Lindell Sellers all of Steelville; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends on from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Scripture and memories were shared by Ginny Schevers. Special music of "The Impossible", " These Hands of Mine", "That's My Job" and "If I Could See the World Through the Eyes of a Child" was played.

Committal prayer, interment and presentation of the U.S. flag were in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Steelville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Hayden Garms, Mike Davis, Jared Gillam, Brad Thompson, Josh Callahan, Charlie Scott, Steven Walter, Dale Fox and Chase Garms.

The Garms Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
