Delores Kay (Payne) Jay

Delores Kay Jay, nee Payne, of Rolla, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 20 days. She was born February 24, 1957 in Rolla to Roba Payne and Gladys Smith Payne.

Delores graduated from St. James High School and continued her education as an nurses aide, EMT and CMT. She was employed in the local hospital and area nursing homes throughout the years.

She enjoyed collecting Native American items and loved reading love and spiritual books in her spare time.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roba and Gladys Payne; her husband, Gene Jay; sister Pauline (Clarence) Williams; brothers-in-law, Ben Littrell, Joe Price, Roger Hyatt, David Lee Jarvis Sr., and Harold Stufflebean.

She will be lovingly missed by her daughter, Kimberly Ross of Rolla, MO; step-son, Richard Summers of Laurie, MO; special friend, Thomas Sidwell siblings, Arnold (Yuni) Payne of Leslie, MO, Jim (Carmen) Payne and Roger (Norma) Payne all of St. James, MO, Kenneth Payne and Clara Price both of Sullivan, MO, Gerldine Littrell and Carol Hyatt both of Rolla, MO, Donna Jarvis of Salem, MO and Joyce Stufflebean of Cuba, MO;  other special friend, Nicole Souza; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday April 18th, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 18th, 2025 with Rev. Ben Pursifull officiating. Special music of "The Old Rugged Cross", "Down to the River to Pray and "in My Daughter's Eyes" was played.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Roger Payne, Jr., Jackie Halbert, Mike Williams, David Littrell, Earl Jarvis, Sr., Scott Littrell with several nephews as honorary.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given for funeral expenses to the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home.
