Dorothy "Kathy" Baker Obituary

Dorothy Katherine “Kathy” Baker, nee Sutton, of Cuba, Missouri and formerly of Davisville, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Cuba Manor at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 16 days. She was born January 15, 1932 in Salem, Missouri to Henry and Docia  Sutton, nee Helvey, the tenth of eleven children. Kathy was employed at Eli Walker Shirt Factory for a few years in Salem. She married Jack Kimmons and they became the parents of two children. She later married James “Jim” Baker of Davisville on August 15, 1975 and she became a parent of four more children. Kathy helped her husband Jim at their Davisville Store and later at the Boarding Home they owned.

Kathy and Jim attended Trinty Chapel at Leasburg for a number of years.

Throughout the years, Kathy spent a lot of time cooking and especially for their boarding home. She enjoyed sewing and in her spare time she spent time reading and later working on puzzle books. Most of all she loved spending time with all of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Docia Sutton; her husbands, Jack Kimmons and Jim Baker; step-son-in-law, Troy Pyatt;  step-daughter-in-law, Joyce Baker; siblings, Volly, Woodrow, Bill, Walter, Roy Lee, Jerry and Joe Sutton, Gertie Carver, Imogene Johns and Doris Mae Wisdom.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Lisa (Tom) Morgan of Cuba, MO and Mark (Suzanne Beauchamp) Kimmons of Brandenburg, KY; step-children, David (Terry) Baker of Steelville, MO, Dennis (Patty) Baker of Ozark, MO, Sharon Pyatt of Cuba, MO and Sandy (Paul) Greathouse of Steelville, MO; eighteen grandchildren, Beverly Baker, Jeffrey (Dawn) Baker, Kimberly (Shannon) Gehlert, Sherry (Kyle) Brand, Christina (Jared) Brashar, Timothy Baker, Adam (Felicia) Baker, Will (Britney) Austin, Craig (Sonya) Austin, Katelyn (Mike) Maddox, Travis (Holly) Pyatt, Tyler (Emily) Pyatt, Wesley (Molly) Greathouse, Heather (Brett) Davis, David “D. J.” Cain, Sean (Destiny) Adkins, Nick Morgan and Olivia (Justin) Basile; thirty great-grandchildren, Emma, Devan, Dalton, Samantha, Carter, Aniah, Cody, Joe, Seth, Grant, Jack, Eleanor, Leighkin, Paige, Amber, Courtney, Madison, Kennedy, Owen, Gabriel, Bodie, Lane, Elijah, Evan, Justin, Vincent, Serenity, Brantly, Fletcher and Jace; one great-great-grandson, Andrew; nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends.

The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025 with Rev. Jared Gillam officiating. Special music of "When We All Get To Heaven", "What A Day That Will Be" and "Because You Loved Me" was played.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Davisville Cemetery, Davisville, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Tim Baker, Adam Baker, Tyler Pyatt, Wesley Greathouse, David Cain and Shannon Gehlert.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Davisville Cemetery.

The Baker Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
