Glen McConnell Obituary

Glen Arthur McConnell of Steelville, Missouri passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 in the Cuba Manor at the age of 85 years, 1 month and 13 days. He was born July 28, 1936 in Butts, Missouri to John J. McConnell and Bessie Florence Wigger McConnell.

Glen graduated from Steelville High School in 1956. In earlier years, Glen worked for a local sawmill and later went to work at Brown Shoe Company. Glen loved to play his guitar and sometimes sing. Sometimes, you would find him at the local Spare Rib restaurant playing his guitar for the customers.  He always had a laugh for everyone and enjoyed being around his friends. He will be remembered as a hard worker, a kind and honest man and a good friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie McConnell; and a brother, James McConnell.

He is survived by his brother, Donald McConnell of Potosi, MO; other relatives; and many friends.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of "When the Saints go Marching in" and "Go Rest High" was sung and played by Rev. Bob Coleman.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Fairview Cemetery, Butts, MO.

The McConnell Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
