Hershell “Moe” Monroe Shoemake of Steelville, Missouri passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 25 days. Moe was born April 7, 1951 in St. Louis to Cleveland and Alberta Glore Shoemake.
Moe enjoyed the outdoors whether fishing, rabbit hunting, mushroom hunting or bar-b-queing. He was a past member of the Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Alberta Shoemake; two brothers, Lee Shoemake and Tommy Shoemake; three infant sisters, Ruth Ann, Stella Louise and Mary Jane Shoemake; and a brother-in-law, Grover Barton.
He is survived by three brothers, Jacob (Loretta) Shoemake, Bobby Shoemake and Eddie Shoemake all of Steelville, MO; four sisters, Sherry (Denny) Blaser of Potosi,MO, Sue Barton of Steelville, MO, Ladonna Fulliam of Cuba, MO and Judy (Charlie) Needley of Park Hills, MO; and sister-in-law, Lillian Shoemake of Cuba, MO; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 with Pastor Robby Shoemake officiating. Special music of "I Drive Your Truck" , "Honey, Open That Door" and "He Stopped Loving Her Today" was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Honored to be casket bearers were Jacob Shoemake, Bobby Shoemake, Robby Shoemake, Eddie Shoemake, Larry Shoemake, Charlie Mabe and Denny Blaser.
The Shoemake Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
