Homer Theodore Sellers

Homer Theodore Sellers of Steelville, Missouri passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Steelville Senior Living at the age of 99 years, 11 months and 26 days.

He was born January 11, 1925 at Dillard, MO to Denny Sellers and Effie, nee Callahan, Sellers. Homer was united in marriage to Ruth Eaton and to this union 3 sons were born. He later married Mary Meade and after her passing, Homer married Betty Yowell in October 2004.

Living in St. Louis in his younger years, Homer was employed at McDonnell Douglas for some time. He and his family later moved back to his home area and began working at St. Joe Lead for many years and retiring from there.

Throughout the years, Homer had attended the Boss Assembly of God Church and the Berryman Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Denny and Effie Sellers; his son, Winford Cowell Sellers; 2 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; grandson-in-law, Jimmy Woods; siblings, Jesse Sellers, Herman Sellers, Gladene (Homer) Day, Nina (Roman) Day, Willard Sellers, Daphyne (Louis) Potter, Gladys (Arley) Terry, Johnny Sellers, Wilma (Clint) Abrams and Clyde Sellers.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Betty Sellers; two sons, DeWayne Sellers and Lindell (Anita) Sellers all of Steelville, MO; 9 grandchildren, Laurie (Steve) Finch, Stefanie (Kyle) Kitcher, Charla (Mike) Woods, Denny “Scot” Sellers, Sarah Woods, Jody (Amber) Sellers, Brian (Lisa) Sellers, Gina (Ricky) Spurgeon and Austin (Kelly) Sumpter; 18 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends.

A Graveside service was held at 12:00 Noon on January 9, 2025 in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Viburnum, MO with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Amazing Grace" was sung by all and led by Rev. Jerry Beers.

Committal prayer and interment were in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Viburnum, MO.

Honored to be casket bearers were Brian Sellers, Austin Sumpter, Ethan Woods, Tristan Woods, Eric Schmidt and Mason Roper.

The Sellers Family was served by the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, MO.
