James “Jim” Allen Mabe of Steelville, Missouri passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 in Rolla at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was born September 26, 1959 in Steelville, Missouri to Richard L. Mabe, Sr. and Marie Jane Lancaster Mabe.
Jim was a carpenter building trade homes in St. Louis for several years and around Crawford County. He also did local logging, farming and sawmill work.
In his free time, Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting deer and turkey. Most of all he loved being near all of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Marie Mabe; son, Jeremy Mabe; brothers, William “Bill Mabe, Danny Mabe, Richard Mabe, Jr., and Thomas Mabe; and sister, Julie Young.
He will be missed by his daughter, Jamie (Jeremy Jaycox) Mabe of Steelville, MO; three grandchildren, Harmony Mabe, Hope Mabe and Jameson Mabe-Jaycox; 3 brothers, Joseph (Edith) Mabe, John (Linda) Mabe, David (Melanie) Mabe all of Steelville, MO; two sisters, Jeanette (Gene) Payne of Bourbon, MO and Mary (Dan) Turnbough of Steelville, MO; sister-in-law, Sherry Mabe of Steelville, MO; nieces, nephews; other relatives; and friends.
The Family received friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Baby Blue", "Fishin' in the Dark" and "Deeper Than the Hollow" was played.
Honored to be casket bearers were Jeremy Jaycox, Joe Mabe, Dave Mabe, John Mabe, David Mabe, Mike Mabe and Marc Mabe.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.
Memorials may be given in Jim’s name for funeral expenses.
